History and architecture

This area, settled from ancient times on by Celts, Venetians, Romans and Longobards, was invaded a lot of times by Eastern people and, before the annexation to italy, was run by Venetians and then by the Habsburgs. An area placed on borders that keeps the wealth of different cultures, which here meet and live together. As a result a complex, lively and obstinate civilization has developed: it leaved us deep visible and invisible memories and it permeates everything. Sometimes you can dream about Celt's magic rites or the ancient propitiatory ceremonies addressed to the goddess Nature if you breathe the sweet air during a sunset on a hill or if you scent a daylight in the mountains which are surrounded by our regular and wild landscape. Our history can be appreciated if you visit the sites, the rural villages, the medieval castles and the wonderful country residences, the innumerable churches that are present in this region. One of these is one of the most ancient Friuli's place of worship that is the parish church of Ss Gervasio e Protasio in Nimis. And what about the Domus Magna, the Savorgnan country residence with the fourteenth-century tower, the Moretti country residence, the Attimis Archeological Medieval Museum or the castles of Partistagno, of Zucco and of Cucagna
